Musandam

Musandam governorate occupies an area of 1,800 km² and has about 49,000 population. It consists of Khasab (17,730 population), Bukha (2,314), Dibba Al- Bay'ah (9,873), Madha (3,217), Rakhyūt, and Sadah. Khasab is the regional center of the governorate.

Khasab Fort, Khawr Najd, Wadi Al Rawda, Khawr Ash-Shams Lagoon, Traditional Kumzar Village, Traditional Lima Village, and Traditional Qannah Village are the most famous places to visit in the Musandam governorate. Overnight camping, especially in the cold months, visiting archaeological sites and primitive drawings, mountain safari, camping, and visiting traditional villages are among the activities to be done in the governorate. The best time to visit Musandam is between October and March which are the winter months. However, March is warmer and less busy and is also an ideal time to visit Musandam owing to the heat and humidity of the summer and also the time when hotels are comparatively cheaper. The dramatic Musandam peninsula is called “The Norway of Arabia” and is perhaps the most scenically spectacular area in the entire Gulf. The peninsula encompasses a magical combination of mountain and maritime landscapes, cliffs, and islands, most of them inaccessible except by boat. Musandam is one of Oman’s great wildernesses with many untouched natural environments ranging from the pristine waters of the coast to the wild uplands of the jebel where you can see frolicking dolphins, basking sharks, fossils, and petroglyphs.
