Jebel Shams (Sun Mountain)

Jebel Shams is located in the north of Al Hamra in northeastern Oman. The name comes from the reason that it has a high peak which leads to receiving the sunlight sooner than the rest of places. It has the most height in the Hajar range and the whole country. It is about 240 km away from Muscat. The temperature in summer is about 20 °C and it decreases to less than 0 °C in winter. Jebel Shams also enjoys the accompanying the spectacular Al Nakhur canyon which is also called Grand Canyon.
