Al Batinah South

Al Batinah South became a governorate on October 2011 and Al Batinah Region was split into Al Batinah South Governorate and Al Batinah North Governorate. It occupies an area of about 3,500 km2. Rustaq town (120,000 population) is the center of the governorate and there are large settlements including Al Awabi (18,833), Nakhal (28,088), Wadi Al Maawil (20,206), Barka (130,000), and Al Musannah (6,291).

There are some popular and must-visit attractions in the governorate called Barka Bull Fight Arena in which there is a rounded shape arena with seats and a dusty arena in the middle and it happens every other weekend (mostly on Fridays), Bait Na’am which is an unusually tall and narrow house with alternating square and round towers, Wadi Bani Kharus to go to the mountains of Stal village and spending interesting hours in the market gardens of Sana village, Wadi Bani Awf and Snake Canyon with lots of villages and cool areas to visit with the best off-road trails to make a memorable experience and enjoy some stunning cliffs; Ar Rustaq Souq, Al Hazm Fort, Nakhal Fort, Alkasfah Hot Spring, Ath Thawarah Hot Spring, Ramlat Tawq, Traditional Wakan Village, and Al Sawadi Beach are among the rest of attractional places in the governorate. Rock climbing is one of the most interesting activities in Al Batinah South and you can enjoy eye-catching sceneries.
