Al Wusta

Al Wusta governorate with an area of 79,700 km2 consists of four provinces: Haima (10,093 population), Duqm (19,221), Mahout (17,385), and Al Jazer (5,645). Haima is the capital and central city of Al Wusta and it has a hot desert climate.

Ras Madrakah Beach, Sugar Dunes, Wadi Andam, Pink Lagoon, Barr Al Hikman Island, Rock Garden Desert, and Shores of Al Wusta Region are those must-visit attractional places in the governorate. It takes around one hour to drive from Duqm to reach the beautiful Ras Madrakah beach. It is next to a village inhabited by fishermen. There are lots of white sand and many crabs running along the beach and you can also enjoy an overnight tent. Sugar Dunes is along the breathtaking beach coast near Al Khaluf Caves with spectacular scenery. It’s great to watch the sky full of stars in between the ocean and sugar- white dunes. Wadi Andam is far from the sea and you can enjoy the refreshing and mellow weather here. The pink lagoon is located between the wilayats of Mahout and Al Jazir in Al Wusta Governorate. Interestingly, it is obvious that different seasons cause a change and different shades of pink. It is not recommended to drink water or swim in this lagoon due to its high salt content. Bird-watching is among the most interesting entertainments on Barr Al Hikman Island because many specious migrated birds rest in this area. Rock Garden desert, one of the greatest natural treasures, is naturally sculpted from rocks. If you are interested in historic sites, there is almost a six-kilometer area for some unusual rock formations which are estimated to belong to 46 million years ago. Some natural elements such as water and wind shaped some ice-shaped sandstone and limestone sculptures in the area.
