Ad Dakhiliyah

Ad Dakhiliyah became a governorate on October 2011. It occupies an area of about 31,900 km2. Nizwa town is its regional center and there are large settlements including Nizwa (72,076 population), Bahla (54,338), Sufalat Samail (47,718), Izki (36,203), Bidbid (21,188), and Adam (17,283).

Ad Dakhiliyah has a distinctive location on the western slopes of the Al Hajar mountains toward the desert in the South. The governorate had an important role in linking the coast to the interior of Oman, the main trade route and a meeting place for caravans of many centuries. There are some popular and must-visit attractions in the governorate called Nizwa fort, Misfat Al Arbayeen, Jebel Akhdar, Bahla fort, Birkat Al Mouz ruins, and Jibreen castle.
